Amazon looks to lease land from Boise Airport to build cargo facility

The City of Boise will consider a proposal to lease land to Amazon at the Boise Airport for a cargo facility.

According to city documents, Amazon is looking to lease just over 150,000 square feet of aviation land.

"The tenant will construct a 30,750 square foot air cargo facility and associated improvements on the leased premises,"Rebecca Hupp, the Boise Airport director wrote to the city.

The lease would be for a potential total of 35 years. The city would receive about $59,685 in annual rent revenue, and the number would be adjusted annually per the CPI percentage increase. It would also receive landing fees and ramp parking fees.

The Boise Airport would construct an access road, taxiway and ramp for Amazon. The capital costs would be about $22 million, but those would be eligible for FAA grant reimbursement.

The city council will hear the resolution Tuesday evening.
